Viscoelastics

We manufacture and supply a wide range of premium viscoelastic agents or ophthalmic viscosurgical devices (OVDs) for cataract surgery. Our CIMA product line includes OVD’s composed of sodium hyaluronate, chondroitin sulfate, and methylcellulose suitable for any intraocular surgery technique.

While OVDs are generally classified into two categories: cohesive and dispersive, our new viscoadaptive product, BiVisc, has properties of both cohesive and dispersive agents and therefore excellent for maintaining space, stabilizing tissue and coating the cornea.

Cohesive OVDs

  • Description: Ocu+™ is a clear, cohesive viscoelastic prepareation of highly purified, high molecular weight sodium hyaluronate for use during cataract surgery. The polymer is a large molecular chain with high pseudoplasticity that provides excellent space maintenance, facilitates IOL implantation and is easily removed. Ocu+™ safely enhances performance during cataract surgery including phacoemulsification.
  • Package: Single dispensing box, supplied in a glass syringe with a 27-gauge cannula in a medical grade blister or peel pouch

  • Description: BiVisc™ is a cohesive and dispersive viscoelastic combining high molecular weight sodium hyaluronate and highly purified sodium chondroitin sulfate resulting in a product that is suitable for the entire surgical procedure.  It’s cohesive properties imitate the elastic effect of cohesive OVDs providing exceptional space maintenance and easy removal while the dispersive characteristics of BiVisc™ mimic the low surface tension of Dispersive OVDs, ideal for coating tissue.

  • Description: Ocuvis™ is a dispersive viscoelastic device of highly purified, high molecular weight, premium grade Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulos for cataract surgery.  It is a low viscosity, low molecular weight solution economically designed yet provides good cell coating, crystal clarity, rapid chamber clearance and adequate space maintenance.      
  • Package: Single dispensing box, supplied in a glass syringe with a 23-gauge cannula in a peel pouch
  • Storage:
    Room temperature
    15-30 degrees C (59-86 degrees F)

OcuMax™ (dispersive)

  • Description: OcuMax™ is a dispersive viscoelastic device of highly purified, high molecular weight, premium grade Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulos for cataract surgery. It is a medium viscosity, medium molecular weight solution that provides good cell protection and space maintenance with crystal clarity for an unobstructed view during surgery.
